An Overview on MAT

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is an entrance exam conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) for admission to the post graduate management courses throughout various management institutes in the country.

MAT is conducted four times a year. February, May, September, December.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate should be a graduate. The candidates who are in their final year of graduation can also apply for MAT for provisional admission subjected to the completion of their graduation.

Earlier MAT was a paper based test but from now the candidates will have an option to either give MAT as a paper based test or an online test. Online test is conducted for a week. All the questions and instructions of the test are in English only.

The Exam Pattern:

MAT Entrance exam has around 200 multiple choice questions to be answered in two and a half hours. The questions are from following five sections: Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian and Global Environment.

Formerly each section consisted of 40 questions and were clearly demarcated into 5 distinct sections. But from 2008 February MAT, AIMA has jumbled up all the sections thus leading to toughening of the paper to some extent and creating an assortment of questions taken from those aforementioned sections.

All questions carry equal mark. There will be Negative Marking for wrong answers.
